ObamaRama

It appears that we are on the verge of electing our first African American president. I prefer to use Black vs. African American to refer to me only because it seems a lot more true to who I am based on the way that I was raised. For Senator Obama, truer to his background is the identity of African American.

What do people think about this?

My opinion is "Bring it". Year after year we elect a little known person who has been involved in the politics of HIS home state and we only know of him once he decides to run or if scandal has surfaced. I am supportive of the newness of Barack Obama. Quite a few of us embark upon careers in which we have little or no experience. Sure that pales in comparison to running a country but at some point in each career that we choose the futures or livelihoods of others is at stake. We are doctors, lawyers, dentists, accountants, financial advisors, air traffic controlers, beauticians, traders, cooks, and CEOs. We amputate the wrong limb, administer too much anesthetic, companies crumble, we lose money. . . among other things.

Sure there are internships for some careers or there is on the job training, and sometimes there is jump in feet first and learn as you go, use your transferrable skills and experience to create a new way of doing things. Sometimes that works and very well.

Sure there is an entire country at stake here but look at his predecessors whom we have "trusted". We have been segregated, there have been killing fields and blood for oil. There are certainly worse choices out there.

Bring it, but keep it clean.
